AggieSat Lab business students work with the engineers to facilitate the continuation of the program. This diverse cooperation is unique at the educational level and is one of the many things that helps distinguish AggieSat Lab from other student programs around the country. The business team is made up of five divisions that work together to advance and fund AggieSat Lab, coordinate recruitment efforts within the various Texas A&M departments, and manage contacts with corporate suppliers.
Divisions
- Accounting
- The accounting division works within the budget to process purchase orders as well as evaluate the efficiency of all projects. They are also responsible for managing parts inventory and ensuring that adequate parts are provided for future assembly. Working closely with both their engineering peers and the AggieSat Lab management, the accounting division is able to balance the demands of each project and ensure long term success within the lab.
- Marketing
- Through the implementation of creative marketing strategies, this division strives to fund the various AggieSat Lab projects. They are also responsible for developing promotional items to advertise AggieSat Lab, such as videos, slide shows, and presentations. As AggieSat Lab continues to grow, the marketing team will develop new ways to promote the lab's success.
- Business Management
- The business management team is working to expand the size of AggieSat Lab and foster its continued success by coordinating efforts between other divisions to recruit new members and operate all current projects. AggieSat business students join up with student engineers at events such as the MSC Open House to show other Aggies what the lab is all-about. Campus-wide information sessions are a regular occurrence as well and AggieSat is always looking for additional motivated students to join the organization.
- Finance
- This division is responsible for ensuring the organization's financial security through the implementation of a strategic investment plan. The finance team also collaborates with marketing and project managers to establish fiscal budgets for each satellite project. AggieSat Lab provides a unparalleled opportunity for business-minded students to gain real experience in the financial undertakings of an engineering organization prior to graduation.
- Information
- This division is responsible for all information management in Aggie Sat Lab including documentation assignment and control. This requires close coordination with the engineers to ensure each document is properly updated and filed. Information management is critical for long-term success and the business team is here to ensure that the lab can achieve all of its goals.
